Curator Review

Verdict

A slick, star-driven heist-thriller with real style, sharp set pieces, and Shah Rukh Khan at full charisma. It’s best enjoyed as glossy escapism: the plotting is thin and the runtime can drag, but the action craft and swagger carry it.

Best for

  • fans of stylish heist movies
  • viewers who prioritize action beats over airtight plotting
  • Shah Rukh Khan fans
  • people who enjoy glossy, international-leaning thrillers

Skip if

  • you need a tightly written screenplay
  • you dislike exaggerated, larger-than-life action
  • you want grounded realism
  • you’re impatient with long build-ups and melodramatic detours

Overview

Don 2 is the kind of sequel that understands its audience: it trades on attitude, momentum, and polished spectacle. Farhan Akhtar stages the film like a sleek global caper, and the production design, action choreography, and visual confidence give it a premium sheen that still stands out in Indian mainstream action cinema.

Worth noting

Shah Rukh Khan is the engine here, playing Don with icy charm and a playful sense of danger. The movie works best when it leans into that persona and the mechanics of the heist, infiltration, and double-crosses. It’s less convincing when the script stretches to justify every turn, and the climax is a bit of a wobble.

Bottom line

Even so, the film has enough propulsion and style to make the flaws feel secondary. If you’re in the mood for a big, glossy crime thriller that values cool factor as much as narrative logic, this delivers a very specific kind of pleasure.

Ykw...I am gonna say it. Best action film Bollywood has made so far. Substitutes the emphasis on story in the first one with a masterclass in formal and visual craft. Akhtar and SRK both realise that most people watching these don't care about the story, they care about the action beats, one-liners, and they both step it up in all those regards amazingly. Seriously, this looks better than so many superhero movies that have come since lol. Just an absolute fucking blast. Even better than I had remembered.

I would have been much happier if there had been Don 3 announcement instead of Pathan, jawan, dunki. SRK Filmography
