Verdict
A warm, beautifully animated romance-adventure with iconic set pieces, charming character work, and a surprisingly strong sense of mood. Its sweetness is undeniable, even if some dated cultural material and old-fashioned gender ideas make it feel of its era.

Overview
Lady and the Tramp is one of Disney’s most enduring hand-drawn features because it turns a simple premise into a full romantic fable. The animation is lush, the animal expressions are vivid, and the film keeps finding little pleasures in domestic detail, neighborhood texture, and comic side characters.
Worth noting
What people remember most is earned: the spaghetti sequence, the moonlit wandering, the sense that the film is gently moving from comfort into adventure and back again. It has a real emotional softness, and the dogs feel like personalities rather than just cute designs.
Bottom line
It’s also very much a product of 1955. Some characterizations and stereotypes land badly now, and the film’s worldview is traditional in ways that may feel limiting. Still, as a piece of classic animation craft and as a romantic family film, it remains easy to recommend.

Wonderful hand-drawn animation, adorable life lessons, an oddly romantic song about dogs sharing spaghetti, and the occasional grotesque racial stereotype. Still better than the new one!
