Verdict
A sincere, research-heavy biographical drama about a brilliant scientist wronged by the state, with real emotional and historical weight. It’s most compelling as a tribute and injustice story, though the filmmaking can feel uneven, over-explanatory, and occasionally too eager to underline its patriotism.
Best for
Viewers interested in Indian history, space research, and true-story injustice dramas
Fans of earnest biopics with a strong central performance
Audiences who don’t mind a didactic, issue-driven approach
Skip if
You want subtle character writing and tonal restraint
You’re sensitive to heavy-handed nationalism or speechifying
You need polished visual style and consistently smooth pacing
Overview
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is built around a remarkable real-life story, and that foundation gives the film a lot of its power. The arc of a scientist whose career and reputation were derailed by false accusations is inherently gripping, and the movie treats that injustice with clear sympathy and genuine admiration for his achievements.
Worth noting
What holds it back is execution. The film often feels more like a passionate case being argued than a fully shaped drama, with uneven pacing, blunt dialogue, and technical rough edges that can distract from the story. Still, the ambition is admirable, and the central performance carries a lot of the film’s emotional burden.
Bottom line
As a biopic, it’s strongest when it focuses on scientific accomplishment, institutional betrayal, and the personal cost of public scandal. If you’re open to a flawed but heartfelt prestige project, it’s worth the watch; if you prefer nuance and cinematic polish, it may feel more admirable than absorbing.

Though you know the biographical drama has been fictionalized enough with overly patriotic pushes, the untold real life story of of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan by itself is extraordinarily eventful and fascinating beyond thought. It's hard to rate a film like this which is made with so much research and dedication.
So I'd just say that although far from perfect, the film is definitely worth watching because it tells a story which needed to be told and which many Indians like me would be unaware of.

A brilliant tale of a brilliant scientist. And yes; we, as a nation do apologize for what was done to you 'Nambi sir'.
Mr. Shah Rukh Khan brings his own charm during the climax. ❤️

Rocketry is a run-of-the-mill tale of one of the most important people from India’s space research experience and through one of the most complex geopolitical periods in modern history. Dr Narayanan is unequivocally revered among the political agents of our country, and his early achievements make him one of the founding actors of rocket technology in India. However, when we attempt to examine the course of events and the residual pieces of evidence, notwithstanding the judicial verdict in the ISRO… more Rocketry is a run-of-the-mill tale of one of the most important people from India’s space research experience and through one of the most complex geopolitical periods in modern history. Another great Indian film which may go unrecognized by mass Indian audience.
