A generic, underpowered action-thriller that leans on a familiar fugitive-family setup without enough style, chemistry, or invention to justify the run time. There are a few watchable performances and isolated action beats, but the overall impression is bland rather than thrilling.

Overview
Shadow Force has a premise that should work: two elite operatives go on the run to protect their child, with their former unit closing in. In practice, it plays like a familiar studio action template, more functional than exciting, and too often content to coast on the cast’s charisma instead of building real momentum.
Worth noting
Joe Carnahan has made tougher, meaner, more distinctive action movies than this, and that history makes the flatness more disappointing. The film has a few decent chases and some committed supporting turns, but the action is uneven and the emotional material never fully lands.
Bottom line
What remains is a watchable but disposable thriller that feels aimed at streaming even in a theatrical setting. If you’re in the mood for a competent, low-stakes action movie, it can pass the time; if you want a standout in the genre, there are far better options.

This film gets one star but my experience gets five. Purchased tickets to Sinners. Realized the AMC app booked my tickets at the wrong theatre because I had a different one favorited. No other times available at the theatre I want. Roll up to the out of the way theatre to meet your friend’s ex to check on his wellbeing post breakup. Hear people screaming for Matt. Look up and see Matt Damon. Stand on the street confused. Realize it

Score : 4.4/10 ✅ Getting a new Joe Carnahan movie that doesn't leave its mark is somewhat disappointing. While all his other movies aren't necessarily masterpieces, each one has something memorable, or, at the very least, are successful in pitching a distinctive energy — in Shadow Force, being bland is apparently the only thing capable of. Other than having action scenes that feel derivative and uncoordinated, the frustrating part comes from learning that the ''Shadow Force'' name is actually a… more
