Overview
Afreen, a rebellious Pakistani student sets ablaze the car of an Indian in London. Angered Afreen returns to Pakistan to ask for money from her grandfather that she has to pay in a month's time as damages. However, she gets to know that he is no more and the only thing he has left for her is a letter-delivering task, written by Ram to Sita. As Afreen sets out to find Ram, there begins her journey of discovering the secret behind the 20-year-old letter.
A lush, old-school romantic drama with strong chemistry, handsome period design, and a melodramatic letter-driven structure that pays off emotionally if you’re in the mood for a sweeping tearjerker. Its politics and occasional logic gaps may divide viewers, but the craft and sincerity carry it.
Best for
fans of earnest romance and yearning
viewers who like period melodrama
audiences who enjoy visually rich productions
people open to slow-burn emotional storytelling
Skip if
you dislike patriotic or military framing
you want a tightly plotted, realism-first drama
you’re allergic to heightened sentimentality
you prefer romance with modern, explicit intimacy
Overview
Sita Ramam is built like a classic romance novel: a secret letter, a long-buried love story, and a present-day search that slowly unlocks the past. The film leans hard into emotion, but it also has real visual grace, with striking production design, elegant framing, and a score that knows exactly when to swell and when to hold back.
Worth noting
The central chemistry is the movie’s biggest asset. It sells the idea of love as memory, devotion, and sacrifice more than as physical passion, which gives the story a nostalgic, almost timeless quality. When it works, it’s genuinely moving; when it doesn’t, the dialogue and patriotic framing can feel heavy-handed.
Bottom line
Still, for viewers who want a sincere, sweeping romance with a strong sense of place and a few well-timed twists, this lands well. It’s the kind of film that asks you to surrender to its mood, and if you do, it can be a very rewarding watch.

can they not write yearning and a passionate love story without inserting kashmir and Islamophobic angle? just.. Mrunal and Dq have unreal chemistry though. sat through this for them only.

An epic period tale of love and war that’s executed in an emotionally effective and poetic manner. Sita Ramam is one of the most timeless of all movies in terms of topic, emotion, acting and motivation.
The romance between the leads jumps out at the screen. Mrunal thakur delivered an unforgettable performance. Her expressive eyes, her charming smile, and her graceful looks make her layered character look utterly believable.
It is a visual feast, and my compliments to the art director , and the cinematographers P. S. Vinod and Shreyaas Krishna who extend an exhilarating beauty to… more

Costumes are chef's kiss but it's the music that steals the show. How beautifully done and evey single frame looked like straight outta painting thanks to picture perfect framing and amazing DI that fits the mileu.
The leads had a sparkling chemistry and I can't think of anybody else playing their respective roles. Such a sucker for romances and this just fed me well.
