We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.
Overview
For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade. This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming...and he’s ready.

Curator Review
Verdict
A broad, easygoing studio comedy with a fun high-concept hook and a strong cast, but the joke engine is uneven and the film leans more on premise than on sustained laughs. It works best as a breezy hangout movie with bursts of physical comedy and absurd commitment.
Best for
Viewers who like high-concept ensemble comedies
Fans of goofy, fast-moving chase humor
People who enjoy charismatic star casts playing against type
Audiences looking for a light, low-stakes watch
Skip if
You want sharp, consistently original writing
You dislike broad studio comedy and forced antics
You need emotional depth or a memorable story arc
You are turned off by movies that feel like one joke stretched to feature length
Overview
Tag has an undeniably silly premise, and the movie mostly knows that its job is to keep the energy moving. The best stretches come from the cast leaning into the absurdity with real commitment, turning a childhood game into a surprisingly elaborate action-comedy chase machine.
Worth noting
It’s not especially subtle, and the screenplay often feels like it’s working harder to justify the setup than to deepen it. Still, the film has enough momentum, physical invention, and comic star power to stay watchable even when the jokes are hit-or-miss.
Bottom line
If you’re in the mood for a disposable but amiable studio comedy, this can absolutely do the trick. If you want something sharper or more distinctive, it’s more likely to land as a pleasant diversion than a must-see.

Well this is gonna be a weird review to write....
Full disclosure, this movie is based on my dad.
He’s one of the guys that’s been playing tag for 30 years. Because of this I was able to go to the world premiere tonight, which was insane (I met Eric Andre and nearly cried). Suffice it to say, I never thought my dad playing tag would lead to something this big.
But yeah, here we are.
I’ll fully admit I… more

Another high-concept hangout comedy that thrives on ridiculous commitment and nostalgic nonsense.
