Verdict
A lively, good-hearted Nickelodeon adventure that works best as a family road-trip story with real emotional stakes. It has bright animation, a memorable voice cast, and a surprisingly sincere sibling arc, even if the plot moves quickly and mostly plays to fans of the show.
Best for
families looking for a colorful adventure
fans of early-2000s animated TV spin-offs
viewers who like animal-centered stories
kids who enjoy comedy with a gentle emotional core
Skip if
you want a tightly plotted feature with deep character development
you are not interested in TV-to-film animation
you prefer sharper jokes or more polished modern animation
you dislike broad kid-friendly comedy
Overview
The Wild Thornberrys Movie is one of those early-2000s animated features that feels instantly tied to its era: bright, scrappy, and proudly a little chaotic. The movie keeps the show’s travelogue spirit intact, using its African setting and animal communication premise to mix comedy, adventure, and a light educational streak without losing its kid-friendly energy.
Worth noting
What gives it staying power is the sibling dynamic. Eliza and Debbie’s friction adds a real emotional spine, and the film does a nice job turning a goofy premise into a story about trust, identity, and growing up. The humor is broad, but the movie also has a sincere affection for animals and for the family at its center.
Bottom line
It’s not especially complex, and the pacing can feel rushed in the back half, but the animation is attractive and the whole thing has a warm, adventurous charm. For viewers who grew up with Nickelodeon animation, it’s an easy nostalgia watch; for everyone else, it’s a pleasant, spirited family film with more heart than you might expect.

I love this show so muuuch.. It has always been so pleasant and fun watching and learning experience every time I rewatch this classic majority of nickelodeon show!
For me, seeing this as a kid back in the day was so powerful and I really contribute that to who I am now as a person, my compassion and my love for animals specifically. It's actually teaching something fascinating and sometimes important facts bout animals that we've never heard yet. My… more

First of all, this thing is gorgeous. It looks so good.
Second lol is Darwin this annoying in the cartoon?? I was over this nigga by the time they got to London.
I think it’s cool that we were able to watch this and still be into it, despite not watching the cartoon for a good 10-15 years. Eliza is a great lead and you really care about what she’s going through. The villain?? Bro was ACTING! He’s so good,… more First of all, this thing is gorgeous. It looks so good.
