Curator Review
Verdict
A glossy, easygoing buddy-action crime comedy with strong star chemistry and a few solid action beats, but the script and humor seem too thin to fully land. It looks best as a breezy, low-stakes watch rather than a must-see genre standout.
Best for
Viewers who mainly want charismatic leads and punchy action
Fans of buddy-cop or mismatched-partner comedies
People in the mood for a casual streaming-night movie
Audiences who can forgive a weak mystery if the set pieces work
Skip if
You want sharp writing or a genuinely funny comedy
You need a tightly plotted mystery
You’re sensitive to broad, juvenile, or uneven humor
You prefer action films with a more distinctive cinematic identity
Overview
The Wrecking Crew sells itself on the most obvious thing going for it: Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa bouncing off each other. That pairing gives the movie an easy, muscular charm, and the action seems built to keep the momentum moving even when the story doesn’t. It feels engineered as a crowd-pleasing package, with enough violence, banter, and swagger to stay watchable.
Worth noting
The problem is that the movie appears to lean harder on the concept than on the writing. The mystery setup sounds familiar, and the comedy seems to land unevenly, with several reactions suggesting the jokes don’t rise to the level of the cast. When the film slows down to do plot work, the energy drops and the runtime starts to feel longer than it should.
Bottom line
Still, there’s a lane for this kind of movie, especially if you want something loud, disposable, and mildly entertaining rather than polished. If the action and chemistry are enough for you, it should pass the time. If you need sharper wit or a more satisfying crime story, this is likely to feel like a near miss.

Jason Momoa loves his own ass and, with an ass like that, who could blame him. And as a little bonus, you can even hear him shaking his own ding dong. I wonder what objects the foley artist used.
Soto goes for a charismatic and appealing entertainment package that tries, perhaps a little more than just being “fun for the evening,” but unfortunately it somewhat fails on its own, which makes the film’s runtime feel long, even though the action… more

if, and only if, you loved Jason Momoa in A Minecraft Movie, you’ll be pleased to find out he’s literally the exact same character in this!

Fast, self-aware, and genuinely funny, with the same appeal of charismatic leads carrying a high-energy genre premise.
