Curator Review

Verdict

A slick, twist-heavy crime thriller with a wicked sense of humor, Andhadhun turns a simple premise into a constantly shifting game of deception. It’s especially rewarding for viewers who like sharp plotting, dark comedy, and performances that keep you guessing.

Best for

  • fans of clever thrillers with escalating reversals
  • viewers who enjoy dark comedy and moral ambiguity
  • people who like films where every character may be lying
  • audiences open to a stylish, high-energy Indian genre film

Skip if

  • you dislike plot twists that pile up quickly
  • you want a straightforward mystery with a clean ending
  • you prefer subdued pacing over manic momentum
  • you’re not in the mood for cruelty, chaos, or black comedy

Overview

Andhadhun is a deliciously unstable crime caper: part thriller, part farce, part moral trap. The central gimmick is elegant, but what makes the film work is how confidently it keeps mutating around that idea, turning every new scene into another test of nerve, luck, and bad faith.

Worth noting

Sriram Raghavan stages the film with a light touch even as the body count and betrayals mount. The writing is the real engine here, but the performances give it bite, especially in the way the cast plays charm, menace, and opportunism as overlapping survival tactics.

Bottom line

The result is a movie that feels playful while it’s tightening the noose. Some viewers may find the escalation almost too elaborate, but if you like your thrillers to be clever, nasty, and a little gleefully absurd, this is a standout.

WHAT IS LIFE? IT DEPENDS ON THE LIVER. In a transactional world, is there anything sacred. More than being right or wrong, survival is all that matters. And what is more dangerous? moral blindness OR physical blindness. Sriram Raghavan perfectly uses the idea to craft a compelling dark crime comedy, one that gets cleverly written and rivetingly executed in a fast paced thrilling manner. Brilliantly etched characters and consistently delicious twists keep you hooked throughout. Ayushmann and Tabu were effortlessly outstanding. The editing, music and cinematography seamlessly complement the mood. Highly recommended watch.

An Indian film riddled with some great unexpected turns the in the middle that actually add to its overall entertainment value and caught me somewhat off guard, Barbarian for some reason spring to mind. The cinematography is very good, and the music is mostly catchy. The two leads, Khurrana and Tabu, have a genuine and enjoyable on-screen romance and chemistry, and they handle the film's major plot twist with ease, making the subsequent development of their relationship come easily.
